Progress in the Present
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission at CAWLE is devoted to providing a positive platform for sworn and retired women in the criminal justice network, invoking conversations about progress, goals, and achievements, as well as providing mentoring and educational services, while preserving the history of women police officers.
Championing Women in Law Enforcement
The Chicago Association for Women in Law Enforcement (CAWLE) is a driving force for advocacy, leadership, and mentorship, dedicated to strengthening the role of women in policing. We provide a platform for critical conversations, meaningful connections, and lasting change in the profession.
In Chicago, women make up 25% of the police force—well above the national average of 12%. This unique position allows us to build strong networks beyond departmental lines, uniting women in law enforcement across the region.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, CAWLE is committed to creating a supportive space where women in criminal justice can openly discuss challenges, share solutions, and advance together. Our vision is a future where the contributions of women in law enforcement are not only recognized but celebrated.
Our Leadership Team
The CAWLE Leadership Team is dedicated to advancing the role of women in law enforcement through advocacy, mentorship, and professional development. Our board members guide the organization’s mission, plan impactful programs, and strengthen connections within the law enforcement community.
If you’re passionate about empowering women in policing, consider joining our leadership team. Explore available board positions and be a driving force for change!
